5 Tips for Developing a Good practice Routine
Let’s face it, we all want to get better at practicing our instrument, but the old methods of practicing have not kept up with life in 2025.
In this podcast episode, we explore 5 tips to developing a better practice routine.
Decide that practice is important to you- you have to make time for the things that are important to you
Change your mindset around practicing- balance playing your instrument with practicing it. Music should be enjoyed, and if you are out of balance, you’ll lose momentum
Mark it in your calendar, and commit to it- make it a non-negotiable so you can achieve your goals!
Get creative in the times and locations around it, work it into the rhythms of your day- every day, and every week can be different. Maybe an early morning or right before bed is the best time for you to pick up your instrument
Focus on qualitative goals, instead of quantitative goals- Set a reasonable goal for a specific practice session, and practice until you got that down, regardless of time limit
